What if you're offered only two options, and neither of them are any good? This is the dilemma you find in this simple installation, created by placing a TV on the ground facing up.

A small creature lives in a box at your feet. At regular intervals, a letter flashes on the screen. If you see "Aleph," then nothing happens, although the creature becomes very agitated. But if you see "Bet," it receives a terrible electric shock. From its vantage point inside the box, the poor creature can't hope to understand that it's trapped inside a completely arbitrary system.
