This Attack Theatre dance performance was conceived as an out-of-control road trip. Climbing into their tiny toy car, the three main characters take off as fast as they can into a series of increasingly surreal environments. Because they stay in constant motion, projected video was a natural way to create a set that could keep pace with their ill-fated travels.
Stop-motion, cut-out, and time-lapse animation were the primary methods that animator Erin Dougherty and I used to create Neck and Neck's worlds. I assembled the video segment shown here out of hundreds of detail photographs of Eastern European architecture.
